My family loves this recipe....literally my entire family, which is strange because we have some pretty picky eaters...My grandmother has made it forever and now we all make it for our families. Not one family event has ever passed without a Strawberry Pretzel Salad or two.
Layer One
2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
3/4 cup melted margarine
3 tablespoons sugar
Layer Two
1 (8oz) package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
2 cups whipped topping (small container)
Layer Three
1 large package (6 ounces) strawberry flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 (10oz) box frozen strawberries
Preheat oven to 400°. Put layer one in a 9x13x2-inch pan and bake 8 minutes. Remove to cool. Layer Two - Beat sugar into cream cheese, stir in whipped topping. Spread over cooled pretzels. Layer three - Mix gelatin, boiling water and strawberries together and set aside 10 minutes. Pour over cheese mixture; chill thoroughly.
