MAINTENANCE - Do a little, get a lot!

I was out weeding the flower beds and watering plants yesterday  in the nice, cool, beginning-of-the-day sunshine. It actually didn't take too long. The weeds were not as bad as I thought they would be and I realized why. A little bit of weeding goes a long way. And I mean a little bit of weeding each day... well okay every other day...well all right.... maybe  every few days! But it really does! Do a little bit of work often and things will stay cleaner, tidier, fresher and better. The principle here is called MAINTENANCE. I've really been thinking about that word for the last few days. If you quickly wipe down your bathroom sink area once a day, then you don't have to scrub it so often. If you pull a few weeds here and there, then you don't have to spend an entire Saturday weeding the flower beds. If you sort through, put away or throw out mail each day, then you won't have stacks of unopened envelopes to go through at the end of the week (or month or year!)  I have a friend who told me about her 5 or 10 minute jobs. If she has just 5 or 10 minutes to wait for the laundry to finish or  until it is time to leave for something, instead of wasting that 5 or 10 minutes, she thinks of a 5 minute job that needs doing and gets it done.  Using this principle, Ruth MAINTAINS a clean and tidy house.  She does a little, but a little does a lot. Try it. Do a little and glean a lot! It really does work!
