Since its almost Valentines Day, I thought a show about love would be tons of fun.We kind of stumbled across this movie, out of sheer desperation for something that looked okay and was appropriate for our family. But I’m glad we did! This is a cute story about the sweetness, and bitterness, of first love.
We followed the story of 10 year old Gabe who realizes in the midst of his own parents love story falling part, he’s getting funny feelings in his stomach for Rosemary Telesco…a girl he’s known since kindergarten. We all enjoyed the balance between the fantasy and imagination of childhood and the new, and sometimes hard to understand feelings of being in love.
Plus, you get to see lots and lots of New York, from Central Park to the subway from a kids eye view.
Favorite part
When Gabe has a melt down because he and Rosemary had a fight. Or the part where he breaks his hand trying to break a board during karate class to impress her. Oh, no, wait, there's the part where Gabe has a heart to heart with his dad, which winds up prompting his dad to make some amends with his mother. Oh, heck, I liked it all.
